RELATED – LAST WEEKEND’S ROUND 15 WRAP
THERE’S three still in contention, but only one remaining spot available in the North Central league top four heading into Saturday’s final round.
Wycheproof-Narraport, Birchip-Watchem and Donald all have their finals berths locked away and will be joined by one of Sea Lake Nandaly, Wedderburn or St Arnaud.
• Scenarios to make the finals:
4th – Sea Lake Nanday (7-8, 102.0%) – simple equation for the Tigers: win on the road at St Arnaud and they can’t be dislodged from the top four. Lose and they will be knocked out.
5th – Wedderburn (6-8-1, 110.5%) – tough ask for the Redbacks – who have Robert Tonkin playing his 200th – given they firstly need to defeat Birchip-Watchem and then rely on Sea Lake Nandaly being beaten by St Arnaud.
6th – St Arnaud (6-8-1, 74.8%) – needs to win its home game against Sea Lake Nandaly and then rely on Birchip-Watchem defeating Wedderburn.
Meanwhile, the Charlton v Donald match has no finals implications, but will be a big game for the Navies as 2005 premiership co-captain and 2016 premiership coach Aaron Walklate plays his 200th game for the Navies.
• Saturday’s games – Birchip-Watchem v Wedderburn, Charlton v Donald, St Arnaud v Sea Lake Nandaly, Wycheproof-Narraport v Boort.
