Writing about art has tended to fall away from major media outlets but has expanded in other novel ways through channels available online and digitally. Every exhibition at LAI is accompanied by an essay that is commissioned from a writer who is given free rein to creatively explore themes and ideas relevant to the artworks on show.
For the current exhibition, George Egerton-Warburton has written a personal narrative of experiences. Visitors can collect all the writing from across the year, in the form of a poster that the gallery produces for every show.
Writers have contributed words in the form of a glossary and collaborative story-telling so far this year, with several more opportunities to read new arts writing still left for 2018.
The current exhibition, ‘The Grammar of Glitch’, closes September 1.
