The Breeders Crown Series, which started in Bendigo 20 years ago, brings together some of the strongest fields of two and three-year-old male and female pacers that have been seen at Lord's Raceway.
The two semi-finals of the three-year-old males should provide the highlights of the 10-event card.
The crack fields include New South Wales star Ignatius, Queensland hero Colt Thirty Six, Ballarat's $450,000 earner Poster Boy, Bendigo's highly promising Bonus Play, Queensland Derby winner Master Moonlight and a horse that many regard as better than them all in Ride High.
The racing promises to be electric.
The two year-old male pacers are headed by crack New Zealander Im Anothermasterpiece from the all-conquering Mark Purdon stable.
The colt has already won $250,000 in just 10 starts and already boasts seven wins.
Purdon also has the unbeaten filly Our Princess Tiffany (seven starts for seven wins) as favourite for the two-year-old female series.
Locally trained horses Dixirosalia (Shaun McNaulty and Brackenreid (Keith Cotchin) can be expected to be among the placings.
A third expected contender Bonus Play, from the Bruce Morgan stable, has been scratched.
Brackenreid was a winner as recently as July 31 at Kilmore.
A huge crowd is expected on Saturday night at Lord's Raceway, with the first of 10 races starting early at 5.07pm.
The finals of the lucrative Breeders Crown will be raced at Tabcorp Park Melton, on Saturday, August 25.
The night will also serve as a benefit for drought-stricken Australian farmers.
Bendigo Harness Racing Club CEO Erik Hendrix said $2 from every gate entry and
Fields will be published in Saturday’s Bendigo Advertiser.
