SOUTH Bendigo recorded its seventh victory of the BFNL season with its 16-point defeat of Kangaroo Flat at Dower Park on Saturday.
There was only a kick in it at three quarter-time as the Bloods led by six points, before the visitors finished with 4.5 to 3.1 in the final term to win 12.13 (85) to 9.15 (69).
While the contest didn’t reach any great heights in the challenging conditions, Bloods’ forward Kaiden Antonowicz again showed his class, kicking seven of South Bendigo’s 12 goals.
Antonowicz now has 69 goals for the season – including 25 in his past four games – and a lead of nine at the top in race for the Ron Best Medal with two rounds remaining.
Winger Mitch Rogerson, Antonowicz and Will Keck on a wing led the better players for the Bloods, who suffered a blow with a hamstring injury to the creative Isaiah Miller that will end his season prematurely.
Ruckman Nick Lang, consistent co-captain Liam Collins through the midfield and young key position player Dylan Klemm were the best for the Roos, who debuted another youngster in 16-year-old Hakeem Johnson.
