The Blues and Demons are third and first on the league ladder and, depending what happens during this year’s finals series, they could meet again before the premiership is decided.
If the Blues can do what only one other team (Colbinabbin) has been able to do this season and overcome the Lauren Bowles-led Demons, that meeting could come as early as next week in a qualifying final.
White Hills won the teams’ earlier season contest 66-27 and have continued to go from strength-to-strength ever since.
A loss for the Blues would thrust them into a qualifying final battle against Colbinabbin at Heathcote next Saturday.
Meanwhile, with their seasons set to come to a close, North Bendigo (4-11), Leitchville-Gunbower (3-11-1), Lockington-Bamawm United (2-13) and Heathcote (2-13) will chase one last win for the year.
The Bulldogs face a tough task against Colbinabbin and will be overtaken in sixth place if they lose and Leitchville-Gunbower defeats the Cats.
Heathcote was not far off against North Bendigo last week in a 45-37 loss and the Saints will give themselves a chance of upsetting Elmore at Barrack Reserve after some encouraging recent performances.
Huntly’s season is complete, with the Hawks now preparing for an elimination final showdown against Elmore next Sunday at White Hills.
