Relax - they're coming.

Arnold says he has seen it first-hand when observing a recent Joeys camp of the country's best players under the age of 17.

He left the gathering convinced there were more young stars like Daniel Arzani on the way.

"I saw stuff I've not seen in Australian football," an impressed Arnold told reporters on Thursday during his first media conference since taking the national team reins.

"The kids are coming."

Football Federation Australia announced it would launch a full-scale review into youth development following the departure of technical director Eric Abrams last month.

The Socceroos' winless campaign at the World Cup in Russia underlined long-held concerns about whether Australia is currently nurturing young players, and whether the fast pace of other developing countries - particularly in Asia - is being matched.

Critics have targeted the Han Berger-penned national curriculum as an ineffective tool for breeding top talent, but Arnold reckons it's clearly working - it just needed time.

"Those kids in the Joeys, they were three or four years old when the curriculum started," Arnold said.

"So these kids are coming now and it's a matter of giving them the opportunities. I know FFA have spoken about (A-League) expansion, it's coming.

"We are doing everything right to make the opportunities for the kids, and we need to be patient."

Arnold, who will also coach the under-23 Olyroos team in tandem with his Socceroos responsibilities, said he wanted to widen the pool of players available for international selection.

"If I was coaching in club land and I didn't have a Australian player I could search the world for a foreigner, but we are working with Australian passports," he said.

"I'm excited for the youth coming through, I'm excited by the talent we have currently in the squad."
