Lyndon Turvey, 51, appeared for a brief hearing on Thursday, during which he was granted an adjournment to September 10 so he could seek legal advice.
Turvey is facing five charges from the Independent Broad-Based Anti-Corruption Commission.
He is accused of accepting four bribes, totalling $27,530, from six individuals to “act in violation of his official duty and show favour” to certain people.
Individual payments allegedly ranged from $1,400 to $10,230.
The alleged bribery offences occurred between May 2016 and June 2017.
It is also alleged that between May 2016 and September 2017, Turvey received monetary payments from family or associates of Loddon Prison inmates in return for introducing prohibited goods into the jail.
