By winning the division two pennant last season White Hills was eligible to be promoted to division one, but following an exodus of 14 players that raised a question mark over its ability to be competitive, the club will instead remain in division two for the 2018-19 season.
“The BBD board has made its decision and we now need to move forward in division two and work hard to try to snaffle another pennant to show we did have the quality and plenty of fighting spirit at the club,” White Hills president Malcolm Zadow said this week.
“Absolutely we’d love to prove a point. We’ve lost about 14 players, but gained another 14 who are all really good club people and that’s the strength we’ll build on this year to give ourselves a chance of getting back to the top division because you usually find the cream rises to the top when the going gets tough.”
As well as division two, White Hills will field teams in divisions five, seven and eight of weekend pennant and divisions two and four in the Monday midweek pennant competition.
Meanwhile, the BBD has recently made amendments to its weekend pennant fixture released last month.
