As juveniles, the two boys – aged 17 and 15 – cannot be held in remand for longer than 21 days without a special hearing.
Their matters will again be heard in court later this month, for further rollover.
The 17-year-old appeared via videolink for Monday’s special hearing, but the 15-year-old did not.
They are not required to appear for these special hearings to extend their remand.
Mr Bourke, 45, was discovered deceased at a home in Derby Street, Maryborough, shortly after 12.30pm on Sunday, July 15.
Police announced later that day that they deemed his death suspicious.
