BENDIGO Braves star Ash Karaitiana has stamped herself as one of the finds of the tournament for the New Zealand Tall Ferns at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan.
The 26-year-old scored in double figures in each of the Kiwis’ first three games and added nine in a 22 point win against Chinese Taipei on Saturday.
The Tall Ferns were due to play fellow undefeated team Japan in their final game on Sunday night.
Karaitiana scored a game-high 38 points in an earlier week win against India and followed up with 23 against South Korea and 13 against Chinese Tapei.
It is the 40th edition of the William Jones Cup, the six-team tournament played in a straight round robin format.
In addition to New Zealand (ranked 42nd in the world) the tournament features South Korea (16th), Chinese Taipei (40th), Chinese Taipei B and India (45th) and Japan, the Asian champions ranked 13th in the world.
Karaitian will be back in the Braves’ line-up for next Saturday night’s cut-throat SEABL semi-final against Geelong Supercats at Bendigo Stadium.
