THE Bendigo Thunder tuned up for the Northern Football League Women’s finals series with a 42-point win over the VU Western Spurs at the QEO on Sunday.
After a delayed start of 40 minutes because no umpires had been appointed, the Thunder won 7.9 (51) to 1.3 (9) and will play the Spurs again in the qualifying final next weekend.
With the comfortable victory the Thunder ended the home and away season with a 11-3 record and in second position.
“Our effort, endeavour and tackling was a real strength today. We finished the home and away season with a solid win and look forward to kicking off our finals campaign next week,” coach Luis Alvarez Harris said.
Gun forward Andrea Walsh bagged five of the Thunder’s seven goals and now has 52 for the season, while Tiahna Cochrane and Jac Louttit kicked one each.
The Thunder’s best players featured Andrea Wilson, Walsh, Carly Ladson, Kodi Jacques, Cochrane and Olivia McEvoy.
