Shepparton South upset the previously second-placed Shepparton United 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Ashish Sahayam.
The result left Strathdale, which had the bye at the weekend, on top with 39 points, two points clear of Eaglehawk and four clear of Shepparton United.
Shepparton South kept its faint championship hopes alive and is on 31 points, eight behind the Blues.
Eaglehawk moved into second place on the back of its 5-0 win over Epsom.
The Borough led 1-0 at half-time before finding the back of the net four times in a dominant second-half.
Keegan Smyth scored twice, while Nathan Hamblin, Chris Hopley and Greg Thomas added the other three goals.
Spring Gully was rewarded for its recent good form when it handed Moama-Echuca Border Raiders a 4-0 drubbing.
The highlight of the game was a brace by Josh Naunton.
The win lifted the ninth-placed Reds to within one point of the Raiders.

Tatura stayed in touch with the top four when it scored a 3-1 win over Shepparton.
Meanwhile, in the women's championship, Shepparton United further enhanced its championship credentials when it defeated Shepparton South 3-0.
In what was expected to be a danger game for United, the title favourites won convincingly.
Fifth-placed Epsom rallied from a goal down to beat Eaglehawk 3-1.
Paige Gordon scored twice for the Scorpions and Caitlin Green added the third. Chloe Parker scored for the Borough.
Second-placed Colts United was made to work hard for the three points against Golden City.
The Rams kept United at bay for 60 minutes before Mikaele Warne broke the deadlock.
Eva Jan and Holly Hays scored twice for Colts in the final eight minutes of the game to seal the three points.
Strathdale moved into third place on the ladder after its 7-1 drubbing of Swan Hill.
Teen sensation Ellie Vlaeminck was at her brilliant best as she fired six goals past the Swan Hill keeper.
Vlaeminck’s six-goal took her season tally to 37, just four shy of Shepparton South’s Alicia Rowan.
Lucy Teale put away the seventh goals for the Blues.
Moama-Echcua Border Raiders proved too good for Spring Gully United. Lily Kettle, Courtney Ladgrove and Cameron Yeates were the goal scorers for the Raiders.
The highlight of next weekend’s women championship matches is the top-of-the-table clash between Shepparton United and Colts United at Strathfieldsaye.
