Strathfieldsaye Thunder’s upset one-gal win over Kyneton on Sunday means second place to fifth place are locked on 24 points with four rounds remaining.

Sandhurst is a runaway leader of the competition with 40 points.

The fifth-placed Thunder trailed the second-placed Kyneton by seven points at the final change on Sunday, but they kept the Tigers goalless in the last term and stormed home to win, 3.7 (25) to 2.7 (19).

Eliza Bell and Tamsyn Diss were best for the Thunder, while Jemma Coote and Indi Power stood out for the Tigers.

Eaglehawk and South Bendigo remain in third and fourth place respectively after they scored comfortable wins.

Keely Fullerton kicked five goals as the Hawks defeated Strath Storm 12.16 (88) to 1.1 (7).  Imogen O’Neill and Holly Congues were superb for the Borough, while Hannah Etheredge and Acacia McDonald were best for Storm.

Charly Watson and Deyani Ralph-Prior led South Bendigo to a 41-point win over White Hills. The Demons were best served by Kaitlyn Wild and Hannah Ripper.

In the under-18 girls division, Sandhurst broke through for its first win of the season when it edged out South Bendigo by 11 points.

Lily McMahon kicked five goals in a best on ground performance as the Dragons snapped an 11-game losing streak to win 6.2 (38) to 4.3 (27). Kate Douglass was best for the Bloods.

Woorinen jumped Strathfieldsaye into second place on the ladder after it won a low-scoring scrap.

The Tigers won 1.11 (17) to 1.2 (8), with Kayelyn Hazlett best for the Tigers and Madeline Marks best for Strath.

Gracie Sladden and Bree Tranter led Golden Square to a comfortable 57-point win against Eaglehawk.

Meleah Baldock and Natasha Doggett battled hard for the Borough.

Kangaroo Flat had 29 scoring shots to four in its 80-point win over Kyneton.

Shelby Knoll and Ella Wicks controlled the play for the Roos. Madi Ryswyk and Laura Lonergan won plenty of the ball for the Tigers.

In the under-16 senior division, Golden Square upset top side Kyneton by 12 points.

The win strengthened the Dogs’ push for a top-three berth. Tom Campbell and Ricky Monti were outstanding for Square.

In other games, Sandhurst moved within one game of top spot after it defeated Strathfieldsaye by 57 points, White Hills scored a crucial 31-point win over Kangaroo Flat and South Bendigo stayed in the top five after it held off Castlemaine by 28 points.

Bottom side Strathfieldsaye dented Sandhurst’s minor premiership hopes in the under-14 senior division.

The Storm kicked 5.4 to no score in the final quarter  to defeat the Dragons by eight points. Carson James and Zayne Pearce were best for the winners.

In the other match, top team Kyneton showed its class when it belted Golden Square by eight goals.

The highlight of the two under-12A matches was a draw between top side Kyneton and third-placed Golden Square.

The St Therese’s Sharks thrashed Strathfieldsaye by 81 points in the other round 12 match.
