An entire row of tickets has been donated to grant people who are blind or have low vision to experience the magic from the theatrical classic and an additional 12 tickets will be given to Vision Australia Bendigo volunteers.
Nexus BYT’s Janelle Rotherham said the group’s vision was to connect lives, build communities, nurture creativity and produce excellence.
“As part of our program, we run Nexus Grants a Dream, which in part aims to provide an opportunity for a NEXUS age teen who has a mental, physical or social disadvantage or disability, to participate in a NEXUS BYT performance in a special debut capacity,” she said.
“We have been running Grants a Dream for a while, however this year we want to extend the dream and give members of the community the chance to have a night out at a musical for free. “
Vision Australia recreation support worker Anna Haggarty was presented with tickets, delivered by Matthew Kidd as Captain von Trapp and Annie Eckett as Maria.
“Our clients and volunteers will love a night out with some of talented young people from across Bendigo,” Ms Haggarty said.
Nexus Bendigo Youth Theatre’s season of The Sound of Music will commence on Thursday July 26 and conclude on Sunday August 5.
