BENDIGO’S Lucas Herbert has made the cut at his debut British Open appearance.
Herbert’s score of even-par over the first two rounds is good enough to reach the weekend stage of the tournament.
The 22-year-old is in a tie for 29th position alongside the likes of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
It was a jump of 43 positions on day two for Herbert, who was tied for 72nd after the opening round.
Herbert shot a 2-under round of 69 on Friday night (Victorian time) following his opening round 73.
His second round featured four birdies, two bogeys and 12 pars.
Americans Zach Johnson and Kevin Kisner are tied for first position at 6-under.
Herbert will tee off at 10.25pm tonight (Victorian time) in round three alongside Michael Kim.
