TALENTED athletes Jamie Cook and Yazmin Hayes were in hot form as they won Saturday’s running of the Keith Huddle Memorial in Quarry Hill.

One of the biggest events on the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region’s cross-country calendar, the Keith Huddle drew more than 170 competitors. Racing for Bendigo Harriers and South Bendigo respectively, Cook and Hayes reigned supreme in the 6km contest.
Cook broke clear of clubmate Matt Buckell in the final 1500m and won in 20.29 from Buckell, 20.42, and then Matthew Schepisi from Bendigo University in 21.21.
The young guns from South Bendigo AC, Hayes and Taryn Furletti had a great duel.
After the 2km mark it was Hayes who powered away to take victory in 22.38.
Furletti was next best in 23.46 as Anna DeVrieze ran 25.37 to complete a South Bendigo trifecta.
Doncaster’s Ben Purser ran a brilliant race to take out the 3000m in 10.48. University’s Harry Wright was next in 11.11 as Sebastyn Andrea clocked 11.31 to be third.
University’s Tullie Rowe ran 11.53 to take line honours in the girls from Eaglehawk’s Gabrielle Rusbridge and University’s Phoebe Lonsdale.
In the invitation 1000m, Eaglehawk’s David Chisholm and South Bendigo’s Leigh Browell set the pace as University’s Mason Woodward ran a great race.
The under-12 boys class was won by Woodward from clubmates Lewis Lonsdale and Avery McDermid.
Victorious at the recently-run Northern Region Little Athletics Cross Country titles, Michelle Van Zuyden from Bendigo Little Athletics won the under-12 girls 1000m from Allie Guillou and Kate Wilson.
The invite was won by Keely Fullerton from Eaglehawk.
Jonty McDermid won the under-8 boys 1000m from Lincoln Andrea and Dylan Marron as Logan Beesley won the invitation.
Uni’s April Wainwright won the under-8 girls class from South Bendigo’s Charli Fox and Hannah Draper.
