The state government’s Healthy Equal Youth program aims to promote diversity, stop discrimination and improve the mental health of same-sex attracted and gender diverse youth in Victoria.
The program’s grants help organisations create new ways of building mental health, as well as support the implementation of tested approaches in communities where existing support for LGBTI youth is limited.
There is a special category open for youth-led initiatives.
Compared to the general population, LGBTI people are much more likely to experience a mental health condition.
Mental Health Minister Martin Foley said the government was working with LGBTI young people and communities as part of its 10-year mental health plan.
Applications close August 21. For more information, visit www.yacvic.org.au/get-involved/hey-grants.
