THREE Bendigo athletes have touched down in Hawaii to compete in the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation Multi Style Stick Fighting World Championships.
James Plowright, Darren Kerby and Sharon Hill will join stick fighters from 40 other countries to engage in battle in the Filipino martial art.
Kerby and Hill have spent the past two years training, while Plowright is a five-year veteran and multiple times world champion.
All three qualified for Hawaii by attending the national titles last year in Townsville and winning medals in their divisions.
The trio will be competing in single stick, double stick and the staff, while Hill is also trying out in the artistic form (solo fighting to music).
Their training is done at Tom Flood Sports Centre under the guidance of Glen Eden, who runs Eden Iron Arm Weaponry, and is also a multiple world title holder.
