CFA, police and ambulance attend house fire in Mount Macedon

UPDATE: 12.50PM

An elderly woman was assisted out of a home at Mount Macedon by her careers this morning, before a fire took hold.

The house has been extensively damaged in the blaze.

Emergency services responded to the fire at 9:31 this morning, a minute after it was reported. 

Firefighters are now scaling back their operations and beginning salvage and overhaul of the site.

An investigation is underway as to the cause of the fire.

A house fire on the Macedon Road is now under control, but residents are being warned of smoke in the area.

Residents are warned to drive carefully in the area, as smoke will be present on the roads.

Smoke is visible from nearby roads and communities.

The fire has affected the whole house.

Twelve vehicles are currently responding to the incident.

No information is available as to the cause of the fire.

Ten vehicles are now responding to a house fire at Mount Macedon Road.

Firefighters are performing an external attack on the single story structure which is 80 percent involved.
