About 8am last Friday, July 6, a Holden Commodore sedan crashed into a street sign at the corner of HIgh and Eyre streets, before a man was seen running from the scene.
Later that morning, police arrested a 27-year-old Bendigo man at a motel in Echuca and charged him with handling stolen goods, driving while suspended, unregistered use of a vehicle, and failing to report an accident to police.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnesses the crash or saw the Commodore in the Echuca and Rochester areas in the days prior.
The vehicle has black front quarter panels, a damaged rear bumper, and masking tape over the rear passenger side holding the bumper bar on.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Echuca police station on 5483 1500.
