VICTORIA Country had the better of its city counterparts in Sunday’s representative match at Ballarat’s MARS Stadium.
Coached by Danny Frawley, Victoria Country defeated Victoria Metro 12.17 (89) to 9.10 (64).
Golden Square’s Jack Geary and Adam Baird – who was named best – and Sandhurst’s Andrew Collins were all part of the victorious Victoria Country team, as was former Bendigo Gold captain Steven Stroobants.
Collins, who was also named among the best, slotted two goals, including the sealer, while Stroobants kicked one.
In the under-19 game, the VAFA recorded a 23-point victory over a Victoria Country team that included Gisborne forward Jack Scanlon.
The VAFA won 9.13 (67) to 5.14 (44) set up by a strong start in which it led 35-0 at quarter-time.
Meanwhile, there was no game for the Bendigo Thunder on Sunday after Diamond Creek forfeited on Friday.
The result keeps the Thunder in second position on the Northern Football League Women’s ladder.
