Light The Night is now in its 11th year and involves an evening lantern ceremony, held at 140 locations across Australia, which brings together patients, families, friends, carers and medical professionals to raise money to enhance research into blood cancer.
Leukaemia Foundation CEO Bill Petch said blood cancer was one of the country’s most “prolific” cancers and diagnoses rates were on the rise.
“As well as giving the community the chance to come together and walk in solidarity, hosting a Light the Night event is a rewarding way to show your support and to help raise funds to ensure local families affected by blood cancer receive the support they need,” Mr Petch said.
In Australia there are currently more than 60,000 people living with a blood cancer which includes leukaemia, myeloma, Lymphoma, and each day another 35 people are diagnosed.
