It was a case of red sky in the morning, shepherds warning today – there is a severe weather system about to move in.

The result of the fine weather moving east, however, was that Bendigo and Central Victoria were treated to a spectacular sunrise and early-morning light show.

Our readers were captivated by the amazing range of hues – and they were out snapping on their way to work.

The run of frosty winter mornings has given way to milder weather today, but a change is on the horizon. 

The Bureau of Meteorology is warning of damaging winds in parts of central Victoria today.

Winds of 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are expected to again develop this morning and continue into the evening, mainly over elevated areas. Kyneton and Daylesford are among the locations that could be affected.

Showers are also expected across the Bendigo area for the next three days, with temperatures staying in the low teens.
