The department will be headed by FFA coach educator Louise McColl and pro-licence coach Fabrizio Soncin.
McColl will undertake the role of league technical director, while Soncin becomes the inaugural BASL Academy technical director.
Soncin’s role will see him develop and facilitate programs for junior players within the league.
“My aim is to expose as many kids to a higher level of practice and provide various platforms for them to develop and progress” he said.
McColl will provide support to all BASL clubs by building strong relationships within the coaching community. She will also facilitate the implementation of a long term development plan within the representative program.
“I am really excited about working with BASL and the future of football in this region,” she said.
“I look forward to building a strong relationship with each individual club, and the opportunity to bring the football community together for the players, coaches and supporters.”
BASL administrator Lauren Steven said the league was incredibly fortunate to have coaches of the calibre of Soncin and McColl working within the league.
“Coaches are a very important part of our football here, they underpin the players’ enjoyment of the game, and we want to harness that through support, identification and retention for the future,” she said.
