After losing to Bridgewater by three goals in the opening round of the season, the Superoos bounced back to score a thrilling 59-57 win on their home court.
Bridgewater led by as much as 10 goals in the third quarter before the Superoos stormed home in the final term.
“We made a few positional changes and managed to get a bit of a run-on,’’ Mitiamo coach Jenny Clohesy said.
“We hit the front with about two minutes to go and then hung on.”
It’s the second time this season Bridgewater has given up a big lead at three quarter-time.
Earlier this month Newbridge rallied from six goals down at the last change to draw with the Mean Machine.
Calivil United consolidated third spot after scoring a hard-fought 54-45 win over Marong. The Demons dominated the Panthers in round one, but it was a different story the second time around with Marong taking the game right up to its more fancied opponent.
Newbridge boosted its finals hopes when it scored a 40-27 win over Pyramid Hill.
The fourth-placed Maroons now have a handy six-point buffer on the sixth-placed Bulldogs.
Maiden Gully YCW is back in the top five after it thrashed bottom side Bears Lagoon-Serpentine 51-21.
The forfeit win over Inglewood aside, the Eagles hadn’t won a game since round two before Saturday’s easy win.
