But still there are a few unknowns about how Bridgewater and Mitiamo will stack up against each other come this Saturday.
Timing has not been kind to both the Mean Machine and Superoos in their clashes this season.
They first met in round one, when both clubs unveiled a host of new faces and structures, as the Mean Machine, under first-time coach Claudia Powell, scored a 44-41 win at Mitiamo.
Ten weeks on – and at least for one team – there’s a sense of starting over again.
It’s been nearly three weeks since the Superoos hit the court in a competitive match.
A convincing 65-38 win against Marong on June 2 was followed by a pair of byes.
Factoring in the inter-league round break on May 19, Mitiamo has played just twice since May 12, with both its games coming against the competition’s bottom two sides.
Superoos coach Jenny Clohesy said it remained to be seen what the lengthy break between games might mean for her side against the ladder leaders.
“Who would know what impact it will have,” Clohesy said.
“Looking back at the first game (against Bridgewater), the girls were still getting used to playing with each other, as their girls were.
“So you don’t know what that (round one result) means.
“Bridgewater have been going really well, so we’re really looking forward to the challenge.”
Clohesy, who has led the Superoos to back-to-back grand final appearances, identified the Mean Machine’s height as one of the keys to their success this season.
Like Clohesy, Bridgewater’s coach was similarly unsure what could be gleaned from the teams’ previous meeting.
“Being round one we didn’t get much of a gauge and added to that the weather was pretty bad,” Powell said.
“Them having a three-week gap (between games) make it more of an unknown. They’ll be fresh no doubt.”
Powell said she could not be happier her side’s recent form, highlighted by big wins over Bears Lagoon-Serpentine and Marong.
“The girls have attempted to work really hard from start to finish and have some really big scores to show for it,” she said.
“They have really put in the hard work this season and showed a want to succeed.
“I think the draw (against Newbridge on June 2) has really pushed us to work harder and win.”
In other games, Pyramid Hill hosts Newbridge, Calivil United travels to Marong, and Maiden Gully YCW clashes with Bears Lagoon-Serpentine.
