In a letter to parents from headmaster Matthew Maruff, the school outlined how an internal review of their payroll process revealed that some non-teaching staff had been paid incorrect penalties and allowances.
The underpayments were verified by an independent auditor.
Affected staff members were notified and will be paid the full amounts owed to them.
In the letter, Mr Maruff apologised to affected staff and assured parents that there will be no impact on students or families.
“We take pride in our staff and value their work and commitment to Girton Grammar School and its students,” Mr Maruff said in the letter.
“The internal review and subsequent independent audit has given us much greater assurance that an error of this sort cannot be repeated.”
Girton Gramar declined to comment when contacted by the Bendigo Advertiser.
