The Saints looked headed for their fourth win of the season when Nick Baldwin put them up 77-45 10 minutes into the final term.

At that stage Wedderburn had kicked just five goals, but over the final 19 minutes of the game the Redbacks slammed on six unanswered – the last from Joseph Lockhart leveling the scores 11.15 (81) apiece at St Arnaud.

Lockhart marked a pass from Declan Quin and converted his set-shot from 40m as the two sides were left to split the points.

As well as setting up Lockhart for his match-tying shot at goal, Quin also kicked two goals earlier in the final term.

Matt Johnston (two goals) was best for the Redbacks, while Kane Sevallos-Seden led the way for the Saints, who after playing with 21 one-pointers last round were back up to 37 player points on Saturday.

• Wycheproof-Narraport maintained its unbeaten record against Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers.

Following a 13.12 (90) to 9.4 (58) win, the Demons are now 8-0 against Sea Lake Nandaly since the Tigers joined the competition in 2016.

Ben Brennan kicked four goals and Boe Bish was best for the reigning premier Demons, who got a handy break early when they led by 22 points at quarter-time.

Jason Collins played well for the Tigers, who dropped out of the top four.

• Bottom side Boort snapped a six-game losing streak by defeating Charlton by 24 points, despite having six less scoring shots.

The Magpies made more of their opportunities inside 50, winning 14.4 (88) to 8.16 (64) at Charlton.

The Magpies are now 2-6, with both wins having come against Charlton, which was similarly inaccurate in their round one meeting when it kicked 8.17.

Rohan Nolan bagged five goals for the Magpies to take his season tally to 34, while coach Kain Robins and Matt Giri kicked three each for the Navies, also now 2-6.

• Birchip-Watchem remained unbeaten following a 49-point win over Donald.

The Bulls again strangled their opposition, winning 13.12 (90) to 6.5 (41) – the seventh time in their eight games this season they have conceded a score of less than 50.

Lachlan Tardrew (Birchip-Watchem) and coach Jacob Werts (Donald) were their side’s best players.
