STRATHFIELDSAYE star forward Lachlan Sharp has become just the fifth BFNL player over the past 40 years to kick a double figure bag of goals at least 10 times in a game.
Sharp added another feat to his goalkicking resume when he slotted 10 against South Bendigo at Tannery Lane last Saturday.
He now has 10 hauls of at least 10 goals in his career for the Storm – eight of which have come in the 28 games he has played since returning last year from a knee reconstruction.
Over the past 40 years, Sharp joins the two greatest goalkickers in BFNL history in Ron Best and Steven Oliver, plus Grant Weeks and Steven Reaper, as the only players since 1978 to have booted double-figures at least 10 times.
Best and Oliver each did it 23 times during the 40-year period, which takes in Oliver’s whole career at Castlemaine, but Best has another decade beforehand that would considerably add to his overall career tally.
Most double-figure hauls in BFNL games since 1978:
23 – Ron Best (Golden Square, Northern United);
23 – Steven Oliver (Castlemaine);
16 – Grant Weeks (Golden Square);
13 – Steven Reaper (Kyneton, Gisborne);
10 – Lachlan Sharp (Strathfieldsaye).
