Organisers of the Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute Military Museum community building appeal are nearing their total $500,000.
Curator Kirsten McKay said the museum will take possession of the renovated building in a few weeks.
From there, preparations will begin on exhibitions remembering central Victoria’s contribution to conflicts from World War One through to today.
The public relaunch will take place in November.
The latest group to donate to the appeal is the Eaglehawk Y Men’s Service Club, with president Trevor Crossley and other members on hand to donate $1000 on Wednesday.
“We think it’s a worthy cause and the museum is of real benefit to the city,” he said.
Donations to the appeal are tax deductible and organisations, businesses and individuals who donate over $1000 will be acknowledged on the donors and sponsors panel which will be displayed within the refurbished foyer of the museum.
Donations can be made through any branch of the Bendigo Bank through its Community Enterprise Foundation or online.
Donations can also be made at the Bendigo District RSL, 73-75 Havilah Road, Bendigo, between 9am and 5pm week days.
The $4.5 million restoration project includes conservation work and a new exhibition gallery.
The skin of the building has also been restored to the color it would have likely been when it first opened.
