UPDATE, 11am: The intersection is now clear and both roads have been re-opened.
Senior Constable Andrew Loricco said the collision was caused when the driver of a white Ford failed to give way.
“The driver (of the white Ford) was headed west on Guys Hill Road and collided with the green car,” he said.
“The driver of the green car had leg injuries and was loaded into an ambulance. The driver of the white Ford had no injuries.”
Police, CFA and SES took about an hour to clear the scene.
EARLIER: Emergency services are on scene of a two-car crash at Strathfieldsaye.
The crash occurred at the intersection of Tannery Lane and Guys Hill Road.
One man has been taken to hospital.
The crash comes after the Country Fire Authority urged road users to remain vigilant on the roads this long weekend.
Acting chief officer Gary Cook said CFA’s core responsibility was to act as a fire agency but it was increasingly responding to road trauma incidents.
“Last Queen’s Birthday weekend the CFA responded to more motor vehicle accidents than structure fires or grass and scrub fires,” acting chief officer Cook said.
