He claimed an individual gold medal in the plumbing category on Tuesday – completing a range of skills-based challenges.
Patrick said it was a privilege to represent Team Victoria, and a surprise that he was able to win his event.
“To actually is such a surreal feeling,” he said.
“The next stage is a lot of training to make it to Russia to compete internationally.”
He will now compete against the best in the world at the 45th WorldSkills international competition in Kazan, Russia, next year.
Patrick is completing his plumbing apprenticeship with Bendigo TAFE and works for Phoenix Plumbing in East Bendigo.
Bendigo TAFE chief executive officer Trevor Schwenke said it was exciting for Patrick, his teachers and mentors to see his success in the competition.
