ST ARNAUD last week became only the second club in the AFL Central Victoria region since the introduction of the player points system to field a team of purely one-point players.

The Saints took to the field last Saturday against Birchip-Watchem in the North Central league with all 21 of their players rated as one-pointers.
The player points system was introduced state-wide in 2016 as part of AFL Victoria’s Community Club Sustainability Program.
Apart from St Arnaud, the only other club in the AFLCV region to have played with a team of just one-pointers was Gisborne, which did so in 14 games of its 2016 season.
The AFLCV region covers 36 senior clubs in the Bendigo, Heathcote District, Loddon Valley and North Central leagues.
So far in 2018 the AFLCV club averaging the least amount of points per week is Sandhurst.
The Dragons have an allocation of 38 points per week, but are averaging just 29.6 – the only club in the region at less than 30.
Sandhurst has taken to the field in its seven games with teams valued at 29, 27, 28, 32, 32, 28 and 31 points.
The Dragons have used 77.8 per cent of their available points, while it’s Elmore and Heathcote, each at 72 per cent, who have used the lowest percentage region-wide.
Mount Pleasant is the club with the highest average of points per game.
The Blues, who have an allocation of 46 per week, are averaging 45.6 points, which following an active recruiting campaign is significantly up on their average of 33.5 points last year.
