An array of the city’s volunteers have been recognised for their generosity at a celebration held in the Bendigo Library Gardens.

Bendigo Volunteer Resource Centre manager Helen Yorston said it was a great opportunity which celebrated the achievements of volunteers.
“We can sometimes take our volunteers for granted and so it’s great to have this special week so we can say thank you to them,” she said.
“Our community services would not be able to operate without the vital support of volunteers.
“We’ve been recognising volunteers from a range of community services from around the region.”
Rodney Doyle was awarded for his volunteer work for Remembrance Parks Central Victoria.
“I get so much enjoyment out of volunteering with the people that I work with,” Mr Doyle said.

Mr Doyle’s role involves working at the various remembrance parks throughout the region.
Ian Stimpson started as volunteers driver for Bendigo Tramways in 2002.
“As a child I grew up around trams in Melbourne...getting the opportunity to drive trams in Bendigo is literally following my childhood dream,” Mr Stimpson said.
Elaine Swanson volunteers at The Bendigo Historical Society and works to preserve the history of the city.
“My work involves cataloging as a scribe, whether it be documents or objects and I put them into a historical database,” she said.
“I’ve always been interested in the local history of the area.”
Volunteers from a range of other organisations from throughout Bendigo were also recognised for their work including VF5 Lake Eppalock Coastguard, Eaglehawk Community House and The OTIS Foundation.
The event was hosted by Member for Bendigo Lisa Chesters and was held to coincide with National Volunteer Week.
