The space will replace the existing playground and will include a zip line, rock climbing boulders, a babel drum, a ping pong table, a basket swing and a wheelchair-accessible carousel.
The new playground area will be larger than the current play space.
It will be nature-inspired, with logs, pebbles and a dry creek bed, and will also feature Indigenous art.
Mayor Bronwen Machin said the park was one of the most popular.
“The park attracts many local families as well as visitors that come from far and wide so it’s important we have a central place where people of all ages can play and connect,” Cr Machin said.
“We also feel the design lends well to heritage of the park and our region, and delivers on the recommendations of the Conservation Management Plan for Victory Park.”
The play space has an estimated cost of $326,000.
The council has allocated funds in the budget for the year ahead, while the state government will contribute $89,250.
The council has also applied for funding from the federal government and Variety Club, and is looking for community donations for the accessible carousel.
The council is now working with designers to finalise plans to release for public tender next month.
