Women of Note president Valerie Lovejoy said giving back to the community was an important part of the group’s vision.
“I discovered when I joined the choir that we are a very busy choir, I thought it would be all about singing...contributing to our community is a really strong part of what we do,” Ms Lovejoy said.
“This year the recipients of these beautiful rugs will be women and children seeking refuge from domestic violence at the newly opened Annie North Women’s Refuge.”
The members knit woollen squares which are joined together to make the larger rugs which will be donated.
Women of Note is the performing name of the Central Victorian Women’s Choir and it is a non-auditioning group with a focus to help the community.
“In addition to singing together, working together in this way cements friendships and brings joy to the choir members as they give to others,” Ms Lovejoy said.
“We hope that the rugs donated by Women of Note bring comfort and warmth this winter to women and children staying at the Annie North Women’s Refuge.”
The group rehearses once per week and also perform at community events.
