The GrainCorp silo located in Rochester will receive a makeover from painter Jimmy Dvate, joining the list of silos which are part of the Silo Art Trail.
RBN president Glenda Nichol said they were thrilled to be part of the silo project.
“Anything that is good for our town we are very thrilled to be part of,” Mrs Nichol said.
“We hope the silos will provide another reason for travellers to stop in town and explore this part of Victoria.
“We are excited and cannot wait to see our artist pick up the paint brush and start.”
Project member Kate Taylor said the project was a fantastic opportunity for Rochester.
“We want to invite all Victorians to come to our town, see the artwork, have a coffee or a beer and check out the other great things we also have to offer in Rochester,” she said.
“Dvate is well recognised in the art world and his recent works at Goorambat, we are thrilled to gain someone of his calibre for our town.”
The project has been supported by GrainCorp and Victorian regional manager Peter Johnston said they were delighted to provide the silos as the canvas of the project.
“As we have seen across Victoria, grain silos have a special place in many communities and by creating works of art on them, we have given them, and hopefully the community, a new energy,” Mr Johnston said.
The painting is due to start very soon and it’s expected to take approximately one month to complete.
