Local mother Skye Toms said that during today’s network outages her son was unable to contact her to replace missing medication.
Mrs Toms teenage son, who has type one diabetes, tried to call her several times this morning to tell her that he had misplaced his insulin and glucose tester.
She could not access her voicemail for half an hour because of the outage.
“I was panicked because as I knew none of his friends could help him with medication,” she said.
“I also had a few missed calls and messages from his friends pop up on my phone as I headed out to the school to drop off supplies. With diabetics, sometimes every minute counts.
“He was lucky his sugar levels were not dangerously low.”
