The Blues have answered every challenge so far this season, but Sunday’s home clash with second-placed Shepparton United is another level.
Shepparton United has only conceded five goals in six games and is unbeaten. The Blues, who hold a four-point lead over United at the top of the table, have kept three clean-sheets in a row.
The other intriguing division one match on Sunday is at the other end of the table.
Despite playing some entertaining soccer, Golden City is winless after six games. The Rams will fancy their chances of breaking their duck when they host Spring Gully at Shadforth Park.
After upstaging Epsom in round one, the Reds haven’t won since and look destined for a bottom four finish.
Elsewhere, Eaglehawk should return to the winners’ list when it hits the road to play Shepparton, Tatura should have too much class for Colts United and Moama-Echuca will find it hard to beat Shepparton South.
In the women’s championship, the feature game is at Beischer Park where Strathdale needs to defeat second-placed Shepparton United to stay in touch with the top-two.
Shepparton South, Shepparton United, Epsom and Eaglehawk fill the top four places on 15 points, while Strathdale is three points behind in fifth place.
With the competition so tight, goal difference could be important later in the season, so Shepparton South and Epsom will chase big wins over Moama-Echuca and Swan Hill respectively.
Golden City and Spring Gully will battle for their second wins of the season, while Colts should be too good for Tatura. Eaglehawk has the bye.
