The awards showcase and foster the talents of young people in the City of Greater Bendigo.
Now in their 21st year, more than 100 people aged between nine and 24 entered this year’s awards.
City of Greater Bendigo arts officer Rohan Phillips said this year’s entries were very strong.
“We were up on entries from last year with a lot more entries in the literature section,” he said.
“The visual artwork was interesting with a lot of portraits entered and some strong pieces looking at things like body image.
“The standard of the digital media entries was also high. It is (a category) that is getting better each year.”
Bendigo South East College year 9 student NayYe Thwey Aung won the performing arts scholarship.
“He is a young chap that has great passion for performing,” Mr Phillips said.
“He is someone who has always loved singing and has been building up his own studio and writing songs, trying to get his work out in the public.”
Mr Philips said over the 21 years the Raw Arts Awards have been running, it was interesting to see how winners had progressed.
“A few years ago we did a bit of retrospective and it was interesting to see where people had gone and what they doing,” he said.
“Last year and the year before some of the judges were people that had been Raw Art winners.
“There are people from 20 years ago that are still active in the arts in Bendigo or have gone on to other places.”
