The LVFNL team, to be coached by Newbridge’s 2016 premiership coach Carmen Shevlin, will head into the match at Queen Elizabeth Oval as favourites against a young and determined Golden Rivers.
While the league has not played an inter-league clash since 2015, Loddon Valley was successful on that occasion, beating Alberton 63-35.
It will be a totally different line-up, which takes to the court against Golden Rivers, with all nine players new.
Coach Shevlin this week said she had been impressed by her squad’s application and determination.
While she is no longer coaching at club level, Shevlin has been able to keep tabs on the league’s talent through her umpiring and is impressed with the talent of the assembled squad.
“I umpired Bridgewater and Maiden Gully YCW (last) weekend and I was keeping a bit of a keen eye on the Bridgewater players (Jessey Wilson and Olivia Treloar) and thought I’d be keen to work with them,” she said.
“Hopefully we can all get something out of the day and everyone benefits from the (inter-league) experience.”
The game will be preceded by an 17-and-under clash.
The senior team is : Maddi Smedley (Bears Lagoon-Serpentine), Jessey Wilson, Olivia Treloar (Bridgewater), Amelia Ludemann, Lucy Morcom, Julia Twigg (Mitiamo), Sharlene Hannig, Meg Jennings, Lauren Knight (Newbridge).
Emergencies: Teagan Bickerdike (Marong), Zoe Kennedy (Pyramid Hill).
