The Cannons handed the Pioneers their fifth loss in a row with the 10.8 (68) to 4.5 (29) results at RAMS Arena.
The Pioneers were within six points of the Cannons after Daniel Keating kicked the opening goal of the third term.
But that was as close as the Pioneers would get for the rest of the match as the Cannons slammed on seven unanswered goals to break away.
Ruckman Keating and James Schischka led the best players for the Pioneers, who had Lucas Caccaviello kick a goal in his debut and also earn a mention in the best.
