Dr Robert Blum Bendigo Health director of medical oncology said the money was raised via Rotary Clubs.
“The money that was generated through Rotary paid for an ultrasound that we use in oncology,” Dr Blum said.
“We use the ultrasound to insert an access line that’s important for delivering some forms of chemotherapy.
“It’s important for giving treatment that is over several days.”
Dr Blum said donations were very important because they allowed access to equipment that would help improve their quality of care.
Rotary of Bendigo Strathdale former president Jan Walklate said the money was raised by funds collected at the Valentine’s Day Ball.
“We’ve all been touched by cancer, my father had bladder cancer, my sister had breast cancer and everyone in the club knows somebody who has been touched by it,” she said.
“It’s something that touches us all.
“We’re lucky we don’t have to go to Melbourne for treatment and we can stay in Bendigo and have it all done.”
The money was raised by a group of different Rotary Clubs including Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo, Bendigo Strathdale, Bendigo Sandhurst, Bendigo South and Bendigo Next Generation.
