V/Line has announced it will run additional trains on Saturday to and from GTM Bendigo.
Two extra services will leave Southern Cross Station at 8.22am and 9.40am arriving in Bendigo at 10.20am and 11.34am.
After the festival, four extra services will leave Bendigo station for Southern Cross at 10pm, 10.26pm, 11pm and 11.40pm.
Almost 3000 people took advantage of V/Lines extra GTM trains last year and V/Line chief executive James Pinder expects them to be poular again.
He said the six additional trains would run between Melbourne and Bendigo.
“We ran six additional trains to and from the event in 2017 and this year, we’ll be doing the same because the services have proven to be popular,” he said.
“We’ll have two additional services out of Melbourne on Saturday morning and four extra trains leaving Bendigo that night to take festival goers home again.”
The six extra services are on top of the regular timetable meaning there are plenty of options for all V/Line passengers.
Regular shuttle buses will run from Bendigo station to Prince of Wales Showgrounds where GTM is being held.
“This is a huge event on Bendigo’s social calendar and we want to ensure festival goers have plenty of options when planning their trip,” Mr Pinder said.
Train passengers will need a valid myki to touch on and off before and after each journey to ensure they pay the correct fare.
