The aim is to improve the biodiversity of the parks with intensive land and resource management, which will also include the recruitment of Traditional Owner Rangers.
Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation chief executive officer Rodney Carter said the latest funding was inline with their Country Plan 2014-2034
“Any opportunity for future employment can only have a positive affect because within Dja Dja Wurrung you want people to contribute to their community and you can do that by being employed,” Mr Carter said.
An additional $400,000 will go towards supporting the Yorta Yorta people to create a masterplan to unlock the cultural heritage of the Barmah National Park.
The funding is part of a $116 million investment to support self-determination, celebrate culture and to improve the lives of Aboriginal Victorians.
