“Mr Fountain believes the time is right for him to relinquish the role to allow him to concentrate on completing his legal studies prior to admission to practice later this year, as well as providing the organisation with the opportunity to recruit a new CEO to have ongoing carriage and provide continuity to the leadership of the range of exciting projects currently on-foot,” the organisation said in a statement.
The announcement coincided with the start of a four-month period of leave.
Mr Fountain formally leaves the role on August 24.
“Kathy Bell will perform the role of acting CEO until a permanent appointment is made,” the statement said.
RPCV chair Pam Macdonald said Mr Fountain had left an enduring legacy.
“His commercial acumen, foresight and strategic vision has positioned RPCV well for the future,” Ms Macdonald said.
“We will immediately commence the recruitment process for a new CEO and wish Graham well with his future endeavours.”
The organisation credited Mr Fountain with returning RPCV to successive surplus budget results, ‘significantly’ increasing its commercial performance, and driving ‘transformation change’.
Mr Fountain described his time at RPCV as been both challenging and extremely rewarding.
“In particular, I acknowledge the support of successive boards, key stakeholders, my wonderful staff, volunteers and the community,” he said.
‘I wish RPCV every success for the future, that I know is exciting and will continue to deliver service excellence and support to the Victorian community at their most vulnerable time.”
He was appointed CEO in June 2012.
