WEST Wallsend Rifle Club member Duncan Davies celebrated his first Queen’s Prize victory on Sunday when he took out the top honours at the Wellsford Rifle Range.

Davies shot a score of 399.47 to win the Victorian Rifle Association’s Queens Prize ahead of Brisbane’s Geoff Grosskreutz (398.47) and Benalla’s James Corbett (396.45).
Corbett’s third-place finish followed his victory on Thursday in the lead-up Syme event.
The Queen’s Prize competition began on Friday, with the best of the local competitors being Geoff Grenfell, who finished 10th with a score of 394.52.
South Bendigo Rifle Club’s Rod Mahon won the F/TR class with 466.26.
