The choir will travel to Amiens, France, in September after More Than Opera founder David Kram invited the choir to sing his Cantata dedicated to the life of General Sir John Monash.
Titled Peace, the choristers will perform the cantata in French alongside 100 French children as well as professional singers, the Melbourne Chamber Choir and French instrumentalists.
“We are honoured to accept the invitation as it provides a wonderful cultural, historical and educational experience for the choristers,” Benigo youth Choir founder Valerie Broad said.
“It is a once in a life time opportunity to experience such a significant event.”
The choir is in rehearsal in preparation for the performances while also fundraising to ensure they can take part in the major event.
John Monash played a significant role with the Australian Armed forces with his strategical leadership helping save many military and civilian lives in France during WWI.
A museum dedicated to him will be opened on Anzac Day.
The Bendigo Youth Choir will be singing at the Dawn service and the 11am Service on Anzac Day.
