After being on the end of some heavy defeats in the past two years, the Saints produced a fine four-quarter effort to defeat the Bombers 41-34.
It was the club’s first win over Leitchville, a consistent finals performer, in five years,
Huntly proved it’s a genuine finals contender with a five-goal win over North Bendigo.
After copping a hiding from White Hills in round one, the Hawks have bounced back with wins over Lockington-Bamawm United and North Bendigo.
Saturday’s win over the Bulldogs was full of merit.
North Bendigo went into the game on the back of narrow defeats to Leitchville-Gunbower and Mt Pleasant and many HDFNL netball fans thought Saturday’s game would see North break its duck for 2018.
However, Huntly had other ideas. The Hawks made the most of their opportunities inside the goal ring and won 42-37.
North Bendigo has now suffered three defeats by three, four and five goals.
Mt Pleasant retained its undefeated status with a hard-fought 45-35 win over a gallant Elmore.
The Blues are yet to play Colbo or White Hills, but they are putting together a promising start to the season.
In the final game of the round, White Hills became the first team to score more than 80 goals in a game this season when they defeated LBU 82-11.
