The works come as Coliban Water has appointed a contractor for the Heathcote Sewer Scheme Project.
Steve Standen Drainage will complete the $5 million project to expand the Heathcote sewer network.
Coliban Water chief operating officer Neville Pearce said the project will ensure more of the Heathcote community receive safe and environmentally friendly wastewater services.
The extension will take in parts of Bennett Street, Redleaf Close and the Argyle area of Heathcote.
“The City of Greater Bendigo developed a Domestic Wastewater Management Plan which identified the properties to receive sewer services,” Mr Pearce said.
“We are currently working with our contractor on a project timeline and expect works to start around July and for the project to take around a year to complete.
“We will continue to keep residents affected by the works and the local community informed on the project.”
Residents will be able to ask questions at a Coliban Water Your Town visit on May 3.
Held at the RSL Hall from noon to 6pm, residents will be able to talk with customer support representatives about the project.
Coliban Water is carrying out sewer cleaning and inspections works in Heathcote over the next few months as part of its routine maintenance program.
“The sewer cleaning works are a preventive measure to help reduce blockages and improve the reliability of our network,” Mr Pearce said.
“More than two kilometres of sewer main will be cleaned and inspected. The mains are cleaned by pushing a high pressure hose with a cleaning nozzle through the main against the flow.
“After the main has been cleaned the condition of the pipe is assessed using CCTV to identify pipes which may need to be renewed or replaced.”
The works are being conducted to prevent potential bursts and reduce repair costs.
There is not expect to be an interruption to customers’ services during the cleaning works.
